Updated over a week ago

We are excited to announce that our latest update is now available! This update brings significant enhancements to insurance billing, including direct integration with four new clearinghouses: Assertus, Availity, Claim MD, Office Ally & TriZetto via Secure FTP (or SFTP) for batch claim processing.

By using Kalix's clearinghouse integrations, you can submit claims to your chosen clearinghouses from within Kalix with a click of a button. You can receive back claim status updates, remittance advice, payment information, adjustments, and patient responsibility amounts without ever leaving Kalix.

Kalix insurance billing offers a unique feature that allows you to submit different bills within the same batch to various clearinghouses at the same time.

Action Required for Availity Users

It's crucial for those already submitting claims to Availity to be aware of a couple of changes.

In our continued effort to streamline your workflow, we have established a direct integration with Availity. Additionally, you can receive back payment information, adjustments, and patient responsibility amounts without ever having to leave Kalix.

What You Need To Do

If you wish to submit insurance claims manually to Availity, two tasks are still required to be completed.

1. Enable Availity support via the Insurance Clearinghouses section of the Integrations page in your Account Settings.

2. Assign Availity as the clearinghouse for each client that you will bill through Availity.

Kalix now requires you to assign the clearinghouse you will bill a client's claims using (if you are billing through multiple clearinghouses).

Hence, you must update the insurance details for all clients whose claims you submit via Availity.

Instructions

To do this, navigate to the client's details page and scroll down to their insurance section. Select the pencil icon to edit.

Click in the Insurer Name field and search for their insurer - in addition to the insurers' name, Kalix displays the associated clearinghouse and whether they are participating. (see example below).

Alternatively (but we do not recommend), you can select Availity in the Clearinghouse field.

Please be aware that different clearinghouses may have different payer IDs for insurance providers. To address this issue, Kalix has integrated the payer lists of all its supported clearinghouses. Previously, we relied only on Office Ally's payer list for payer IDs, but we discovered that some payer IDs were incorrect when submitting claims through Availity.

If you only use Office Ally as your clearinghouse, no action is needed.

We are excited to finally bring this update to you. We hope it will enhance your Kalix experience and take it to the next level.
