Allowing Microphone & Video Access After Blocking (Telehealth)

How to unblock Kalix from accessing your video or audio during a telehealth session (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, iPad/iPhone & Android).

Updated over a week ago

Granting Kalix Permission

The very first time you use Kalix's telehealth feature, you need to grant the program permission to use your microphone and video. This is a security feature for your protection - it prevents websites from accessing your audio and camera without your permission.

A pop-up message will appear on the top of the screen.

If you choose Allow, permission will usually be granted forever (depending on the browser you are using), and you will not need to complete this task again.

If you select Don't Allow or Block, you have essentially blocked Kalix from accessing your camera and/or microphone forever, and your browser will not explicitly ask for this permission again.

Browsers have mechanisms for unblocking previously denied access. To allow Kalix to access your camera and microphone after previously blocking it, see the workflows below:

Chrome & Edge

1. On the right of the browser's search bar, click on the camera icon (as shown below).

2. Select Always allow https://app.kalixhealth.com to access your camera or Always allow https://app.kalixhealth.com to access your microphone.

Firefox

1. Click on the camera icon on the top left of the browser's search bar (as shown below).

2. Under Permissions, click on the crosses to unblock the use of the microphone and/or camera.

3. You may need to refresh your page for the updated settings to take effect.

If your camera and/or microphone still does not work

1. On the top right of Firefox, select the menu icon.

2. A drop-down menu will open up, choose Options (or Preferences)

3. Go to Privacy & Security (as shown below).

4. In your Camera & Microphone settings, ensure that https://app.kalixhealth.com is set to Allow.

3. Back in the Connect Camera / Share Screen or Connect Audio window of Kalix, click Retry.

Safari

  1. Open Safari Preferences.

2. Navigate to Websites.
3. Go to Camera and Microphone tabs.
4. Change access to Allow. The website will be 'app.kalixhealth.com.'
5. You may need to refresh your page for the updated settings to take effect.

iPad & iPhone

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Select Safari.

  3. Under Settings for Websites, choose Camera or Microphone.

  4. For Camera, confirm that Camera Access on All Websites is set to Ask.

  5. For Microphone, confirm that Microphone Access on All Websites is set to Ask.

  6. You may need to refresh your page for the updated settings to take effect.
