How to effectively use Kalix alongside Mailchimp

While Kalix does not currently have a direct integration with Mailchimp (or other email marketing system). You can easily use these two programs alongside each other. 

Step 1 Export Clients out of Kalix

Kalix allows you to export your client list out of the program. This file can be imported into other systems like Mailchimp.

1) In Kalix, open your client list, hover on Clients on the top header, followed by Clients.


2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Export All Clients.

3) Kalix will download your client list into your browser (please note the download may take a few minutes to appear). If you have trouble locating the client file, please check your download folder.

4) You client file will be saved in your Downloads folder. If you would like to save the file somewhere else in your computer, just open the file and click Save As, choose your preferred location.

Step 2 Register for a Mailchimp Account

Mailchimp is an email marketing service. If you do not already have one, register for a free Mailchimp account. 

  1) Click here to sign up for a free Mailchimp account.

2) Active your account by validating your email.

3) Enter your account details.

4) You are ready to create your mailing list in Mailchimp. 

Step 3 Create your Mailing List

2) Followed by Create List again.


3) Enter you list details and Save.

4) Click on Import subscribers list as shown below.

5) Choose the option to import contacts from .csv or .txt file. Click Next

6) Upload your client file, previously downloaded from Kalix.

7) Now match up the columns in your upload client list. You probably only wish to import given name, last name, and email address. Click skip to unselect the other columns that you do not wish to import. 

8) When you are done click Next.

7) On the next page, categorize the imported subscribers as Subscribed and click Import.

8) Wait a few minutes and when your Import is done, you will see the following message.

Updating your Client List

You probably wish to regularly update your list in Mailchimp i.e. just before sending out each new newsletter. 

1) In Kalix, export your client list from the program as described above.

2) Now log into Mailchimp and click on Lists on the top menu bar. 

3) Click on the options button (the down icon) against your previously imported list (as shown below), the choose Import. 

4) Choose the option to import contacts from .csv or .txt file. Click Next 

5) Upload your client file, downloaded from Kalix.

6) Now match up the columns in your upload client list as per previous. You probably only wish to import given name, last name and email address. Click skip to unselect the other columns that you do not wish to import. When you are done click Next.

7) On the next page, categorize the imported subscribers as Subscribed and click Import. 

8) Mailchimp will skip importing client details that are already saved in your list, hence not duplicate contacts will be created.
